Get Ready for Excitement Saturday, August 24 !
A Special One Day Workshop: “Indie-publishing Soup to Nuts” Covering everything from “The End” up through sales and distribution strategy, detailed how-to's, and a marketing and promotion plan that works. At least one hour of the class will be on marketing and promotion, and I will share my own marketing plan with them (the one that hooked Hastings and Barnes and Noble). Pamela Fagan Hutchins
Pamela Fagan Hutchins, a former
attorney and native Texan, lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for nearly ten
years. She has made more than 80 book tour stops this year and will share with
you the things she has learned about promoting her books. Her new novel, Leaving Annalise, will be out in early August. She has written two mystery
novels and 6 nonfiction books, all best sellers. She has made more than 80
book tour stops this year and will share with you the things she has learned
about promoting her books.
From Pamela: There’s an
evolving definition going on about an indie author, indie publishing, and self
publishing. Here’s a good opinion on the topic. See an unedited chapter from my book on the same issue.
A self published author can call themselves self published or an indie author – they mean the same thing. An indie author self publishes or indie publishes without the assistance of a traditional publisher. An indie publishing company is outside the big 6. However, I think of the big 6 as the major houses, then the medium to small press (the author of that blog from the link above would call “indie publishing companies”). Together I think of both groups as traditional publishing. Then I think of the upstart indies, and then I think of the companies that don’t really do anything but put their name on someone’s poorly edited book with a bad cover and then take a big percentage of royalties, and I don’t know what to call them other than being in the business of helping authors self publish/indie publish, because they haven’t added much value along the way.
Visit her website and learn about her. You will come away from this workshop with knowledge about how to make readers talk about your book that will encourage their friends to hurry to the book store to buy their own copy. Early Bird Price Non-Members until June 30, 2013: $60 I want to become a member and attend the workshop for $95 After July 1, 2013: Members $60, Non-Members $75 Payment may be cash (but do not mail
